Yooka-Replaylee: Play Coin Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Play Coins — also called Play Tokens by many players — are one of the most Pagie-dense collectibles in Yooka-Replaylee. There are exactly 5, one per Grand Tome world, each one unlocking Rextro's Bytes Back arcade mini-game in that world.

Completing every arcade game at Bronze, Silver, and Gold tier earns 3 Pagies per location — 15 Pagies from the five Play Coin worlds combined.

On top of that, Rextro runs 3 additional arcade games in Hivory Towers (Dino Soar Desert, Bite'n Switch Blizzard, and Hot Hop Hike) that need no Play Coin — adding 9 more Pagies for a total of 24 Pagies unlocked through Rextro's arcade across the full game.

Finding just one Play Coin earns the Insert Coin trophy. Every location and collection method is in the checklist below, with links to the Yooka-Replaylee interactive maps for each one.

What Play Coins Are in Yooka-Replaylee

Play Coins are arcade tokens specifically for Rextro, the dinosaur NPC who appears in every Grand Tome world next to a classic arcade cabinet.

Unlike Mollycools, which transform Yooka and Laylee when delivered to Dr. Puzz, a Play Coin is simply inserted into Rextro's machine to start his mini-game — no delivery, no follow-up interaction.

Each Rextro Bytes Back mini-game awards three tiers: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each earning one Pagie. Play Coins are distinct from Q.U.I.D.S — the Cosmetic currency used at Vendi's Emporium.

Both appear as shiny collectibles in the world, but only the specific Play Coin activates Rextro's machine.

Why All 5 Play Coins Matter for Completion

Collecting all 5 Play Coins unlocks 15 Pagies across the five Grand Tome worlds — a significant chunk of the 120 needed to reach Capital B. Missing any Play Coin means missing 3 Pagies in that world until a return visit.

For 100% completion, all Rextro Pagies are required alongside other Pagie sources. Collecting each Play Coin on a world's first pass is always more efficient than backtracking.

All 5 Play Coin Locations in Yooka-Replaylee

• Tribalstack Tropics — inside a cave accessed through the entrance at the bottom of the large western trench. Rextro and his arcade machine are nearby. The cave entrance position is pinned on the Tribalstack Tropics map.

• Glitterglaze Glacier — on the ground floor of the third Icymetric Palace room, accessible only after defeating the Brrreeze Blok boss. On the way out, head through the northern door in the second room from the entrance to reach Rextro's room. Behind Rextro is a hidden passage containing many shiny coins — most are Q.U.I.D.S, but the Play Coin is among them. Collect everything in the passage: the Q.U.I.D.S have their own value at Vendi regardless.

• Moodymaze Marsh — inside a breakable crate chained to the bottom of the lake. Dive in, find the glittering crate on the waterbed, and smash it. The crate position is pinned on the Moodymaze Marsh map.

• Capital Cashino — not found in the world but earned through a slot machine mini-game next to Rextro. Use Yooka's tongue to pull the lever, then Buddy Slam the pressure buttons in front of the machine to stop all three slots on the Yooka and Laylee image simultaneously. The only Play Coin in the game that requires an active challenge to earn, rather than exploration to find.

• Galleon Galaxy — inside a floating chest suspended above the ground by a balloon. Use the Flight Bomb near Dr. Puzz's platform to ascend to the chest's height, shoot the balloon to drop the chest to the ground, then collect the coin inside.
